Tofu Sticks

One of my favorite finger foods are tofu sticks. They’re a great protein rich snack and can be made in so many different flavors. This Asia-inspired version with spicy flavors, sesame seeds and peanut dipping sauce is amazing, and a perfect snack for pot lucks, movie nights and BBQ-evenings!

I often find myself with leftover strips of tofu after having cut them off when making shaped for other things, so these tofu sticks are also perfect for using those leftover strips. 🙂

Tofu sticks
  1. 350 g/12 oz firm tofu
  2. 4 tsp sesame seeds
  3. 1 tsp coconut oil
  1. 1 tbsp sesame oil
  2. 1 1/2 tbsp soy sauce
  3. 1 tsp rice vinegar
  4. 3 tsp agave syrup
  5. 1 tsp tabasco
  6. 1/2 tsp ground ginger
Peanut sauce
  1. 1 tbsp ground ginger
  2. 2 tbsp unsalted peanut butter
  3. 2 tbsp Tahini
  4. 3 tbsp soy sauce
  5. 1-2 tsp agave syrup
  6. 2 tsp rice vinegar
  7. 3 tbsp water
  1. Drain the tofu, wrap in paper towels and transfer to a plate. Place a heavy object on top and let the tofu press for 20 minutes.
  2. In the meantime, whisk together all ingredients for the marinade and pour into a deep dish. Cut the tofu in three slices lentghwise and then into sticks. Place them in the marinade and let the tofu marinate for about 10-20 minutes.
  3. Sprinkle sesame seeds on both sides of the sticks and place on a baking sheed lined with parchment paper. Rost for 20-30 minutes in the oven at 200°/390F.
  4. Whisk together all the ingredients fo the sauce to a smooth mixture. Serve the tofu sticks with the dip sauce!

    I’ve never snacked on tofu like this before but it seems like such a delicious idea that I have to try.
